Folk Art Uncovered with Caroline Culp

DATE: Tuesday 9/29/26   TIME: 9:00am - 5:00pm

Join us for a special day trip connecting two remarkable collections of American folk art, led by the Chrysler Museum of Art’s new Brock Curator of American Art, Caroline Culp.

This unique experience begins at the Museum, where Culp will guide participants through an exploration of its Folk Art with special attention to Edward Hicks. After gaining fresh insight into the traditions and cultural contexts that shape these works, the group will travel together by bus to the Art Museum of Colonial Williamsburg, home to one of the country’s most significant collections of American Folk Art. Building on themes introduced at the Chrysler Museum, this visit offers a broader view of the genre, inviting deeper understanding and new perspectives.

Throughout the day, the emphasis is on connection— with America250 themes, exciting museum collections, and Culp herself. With time for discussion, questions, and informal conversation, this trip offers an intimate opportunity to get to know a new voice shaping the Chrysler Museum while engaging more deeply with a compelling and often overlooked area of American art.

If you require an ADA-accessible bus, please contact Program Assistant Olga Novak at 757-664-6217 so we can accommodate your needs.

$50 for Museum members, $65 for non-members. Space limited, registration required.
